Beijing :  China successfully sent a new satellite into space from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China’s Sichuan Province on Friday. The APSTAR-6E telecommunication satellite was launched by a Long March-2C carrier rocket at 2:10 a.m. (Beijing Time) and entered its planned orbit successfully. The satellite is mainly used to provide high-throughput communication services for the Southeast Asia region. The launch was the 460th flight mission of the Long March carrier rocket series.

Basra : Bahrain national football team qualified for the semifinal round in the Arabian Gulf Cup (Gulf 25) after securing its lead in the second group after a draw with Kuwait. Manama : Forty concepts have qualified for the next stage of the fifth edition of the Government Innovation Competition (Fikra). Of those qualified, twelve will be selected following an assessment by a committee of specialist government officials in coordination with the concerned authorities. Uganda has declared an end to its Ebola outbreak four months after the disease emerged, killing 55 people. The World Health Organisation has praised the country’s “robust and comprehensive response” to the much-feared haemorrhagic fever. “We have successfully controlled the Ebola outbreak in Uganda,” Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng said at a ceremony in the central district of Mubende, where the disease was first detected in September.
