Manama :: Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the 49th Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition will kick off tomorrow Wednesday at Bahrain National Museum.
Organised by Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), the exhibition returns this year with a wide range of artistic participation by 55 Bahraini and expatriate artists showcasing more than 100 artistic works ranging from paintings, sculptures, installation works, photography, video and other forms of artistic expression, which include various materials and techniques and belong to different international art schools.
The peculiarity of Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition this year lies in its commemoration of the distinguished Bahraini artist and sculptor Khalil Al Hashemi. Part of the exhibition will be devoted to displaying a collection of his most important works and artistic creations.
Al Hashemi designed the Al-Dana Award statuette, which is a prize awarded every year to the first winner in the exhibition.
Winners of the exhibition’s three annual awards will be announced in the opening day of the exhibition. First winner will be honored with Al-Dana statuette which was designed by late Bahraini artist Khalil Al Hashemi.
The Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition is the largest and most important annual art gathering held in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Over the years, it has attracted the most prominent faces of the fine arts movement in the Kingdom, including pioneers, as well as young artistic talents. It reflects the comprehensiveness of the Bahraini fine art experience, which forms an important part of the local cultural movement.
