Bahrain : Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid Al Khalifa, Deputy Auditor General- Administrative Audit at the National Audit Office (NAO), chaired the 22nd meeting of the Deputy Auditor Generals of GCC Audit Institutions which was held virtually and which focused on joint training plans and programmes.

Mohammed Hulaiwah, Director of Public Relations and International Cooperation and Aysha Adam, Director of Human and Financial Resources represented the NAO at that meeting.

Participants approved the training plan for 2021-2022 as well as a recommendation for its implementation for submission to the heads of GCC audit institutions.

The training plan comprises three training programmes: two are organised by the NAO Bahrain and deal with auditing public debt and the professional standards framework of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) and related developments. The third programme is organised by the State Audit Institution of Oman and deals with auditing government procurement.

The Deputy Auditor-Generals approved the recommendations and proposals of the 29th meeting of the Training and Development Committee for GCC audit institution employees, which was held last August and chaired by the NAO Bahrain.

The committee stressed the need to develop and evaluate virtual training to ensure continuity of quality training and development during the coronavirus pandemic.

Based on the initiative of the NAO Bahrain, the committee recommended the preparation of a three-year strategic training plan that included projects that had not yet been achieved in the previous plan (2016-2020) and new projects that meet the objectives for the years 2022-2024.

The attendees were briefed on the proposed agenda for the 18th meeting of the heads of GCC audit institutions which is scheduled to be held in the October.
