Manama: Executive Director of the Supreme Council for Environment, Dr. Mohammed Mubarak Bin-Daina, in his speech at the closing session of the Middle East and North Africa High-Level Forum on the Green Economy 2019, said time has come to incorporate principles and practices of the green economy into national visions and strategies of countries and institutions.
Dr. Bin-Daina called for the provision of international finance to transit to a comprehensive green economy. He also called for amending legislation and preparing national capacities necessary for expediting the green economy transition process. He said the green economy actively assist in eliminating poverty, maintaining the economic growth, strengthening social integration, improving human welfare, in addition to preserving the ecosystems.Chairman of the World Green Economy Organisation, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, said the forum has strengthened the adoption of green practices and sustainable methodologies, which would also create new opportunities for the region that is looking toward build a green economy-based future.
Al Tayer pointed out the outcomes of pervious regional forums, which yielded promising initiatives that would incite the world to continue towards the adoption of green practices and the transition to a sustainable green economy, attaching great significance to close cooperation and coordination at the international level to achieve the desired transition.
