Bahrain Journalists Association (BJA) Board of Directors extended sincerest thanks and respect to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa for their noble messages marking the World Press Freedom Day.
In a statement, the board lauded the royal address, describing it as a roadmap for journalists and media persons in the upcoming phase to perform their duties freely, transparently and responsibly. It also praised the unlimited royal support to local press, stressing that HM the King’s message reflects his enlightened thought and noble will which launched the reform project that led journalism to broader horizons of independence.
The BJA Board of Directors paid tribute to HM the King for his keen support to journalism and freedom of expression, being pillars in the royal reform project that ushered in a prosperous era of conscious and responsible press. They pledged to continue working on preserving achievements and promoting the approach of the national press within the framework of responsible freedom, credibility, trust and professionalism.
The Board of Directors also praised the support of HRH the Premier and his constant directives to remain open on journalism. They described his appreciation of Bahraini journalists as a source of pride for every journalist. They stressed that his message marking the World Press Freedom Day cast light on the role of journalism with relation to coronavirus pandemic and electronic development.
The board also commended the interest shown by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier concerning development of journalism. They praised HRH the Crown Prince’s leadership of the efforts to combat coronavirus, stressing success in boosting social awareness and ensuring the flow of information and news transparently.
