Bahrain has announced the death of a 48-year-old male expatriate, a registered active case of coronavirus, taking the country’s total deaths to 21.
The dead person was seeking treatment in the intensive care unit.
The Ministry of Health expresses its heartfelt condolences to the individual’s family at this difficult time.
The patient, along with all other active COVID-19 cases, had been placed in isolation and received extensive 24-hour treatment from a specialised medical team.
By yesterday’s 504 new cases, the country had reached 12,815 confirmed cases of which 7,410 have recovered making over 58 percent of the confirmed cases to recover from the virus.
Meanwhile, Only 3 recoveries were reported yesterday, the lowest recoveries in the past 1 month.
Currently, there are 5,385 active cases.
There are currently 48 COVID-19 cases receiving treatment, of which 9 are in a critical condition.
So far the country has conducted 337,773 tests, which is among the highest when looking at the country’s population.
An increase in coronavirus cases among the Bahrainis was noticed by the MOH in recent days.
“The reasons for the increase in the number of cases among the citizens are due to family and social gatherings during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr,” said Dr. Waleed Khalifa Al Manea, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in a press conference.
