Bahrain has announced the death of an 84-year-old female Bahraini national, a registered active case of coronavirus, taking the country’s total deaths to 29.

The patient was suffering from underlying and chronic health problems. The country has been reporting more deaths in recent days.

The Ministry of Health expresses its heartfelt condolences to the individual’s family at this difficult time.

The total cases in the country had reached 15,731 of which 10,606 have recovered making over 67 percent of the confirmed cases to recover from the virus. Currently, there are 5,096 active cases.

Also, there are 68 COVID-19 cases currently receiving treatment, of which 12 are in a critical condition.

So far the country has conducted 378,235 tests, which is among the highest when looking at the country’s population.

An increase in coronavirus cases among the Bahrainis was noticed by the MOH in recent days.

“The reasons for the increase in the number of cases among the citizens are due to family and social gatherings during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr,” said Dr. Waleed Khalifa Al Manea, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in a press conference.
