Bahrain has announced the death of a 73-year-old female resident, a registered active case of coronavirus, taking the country’s total deaths to 25.
The dead female was in the intensive care unit (ICU) for treatment.
The country has been reporting more deaths in recent days.
The Ministry of Health expresses its heartfelt condolences to the individual’s family at this difficult time.
The patient, along with all other active COVID-19 cases, had been placed in isolation and received extensive 24-hour treatment from a specialised medical team.
Bahrain had reported 548 new cases of coronavirus yesterday, its the second-highest daily cases.
Meanwhile, 471 additional recoveries from COVID-19 were reported.
The total cases reached 14,383 of which 9,056 have recovered making over 62 percent of the confirmed cases to recover from the virus. Currently, there are 5,302 active cases.
Also, there are 82 COVID-19 cases currently receiving treatment, of which 13 are in a critical condition.
So far the country has conducted 361,376 tests, which is among the highest when looking at the country’s population.
An increase in coronavirus cases among the Bahrainis was noticed by the MOH in recent days.
“The reasons for the increase in the number of cases among the citizens are due to family and social gatherings during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr,” said Dr. Waleed Khalifa Al Manea, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in a press conference.
