Manama: Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, highlighted that the launch of the world’s largest underwater diving park is currently underway. The minister noted that the projects’ details will be unveiled at a Press conference in Diyar Al Muharraq on Monday.
On the sidelines of the conference, an outdoor open area will be allocated for diving enthusiasts and members of the public who wish to witness the launch of the project.“We are proud to launch this unique eco-friendly project in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Environment and the Private sector,” he said.
The project is implemented in accordance with strict environmental standards and international best industry practices in the field of environmental sustainability; with an overall aim to revive the Kingdom’s marine ecosystem and preserve its local marine environment. The underwater theme park will include several unique dive spots in addition to artificial coral reefs that will be submerged in the later stages of the project in order to form a safe haven for the Kingdom’s marine ecosystem, to encourage coral growth and the development of a sustainable habitat for marine-life to thrive. The park will be the largest diving park in the world spanning an area of 100,000 square meters, and it is expected to open to divers and visitors in August 2019.
