“Our main objective at this stage to combat COVID-19 is to increase and develop the capacity for treatment and we have two important projects. Firstly, the ICU and the centre in Sitra which is integrated is another achievement added to the number of success to the BDF in Bahrain. We have prepared 152 beds for Intensive Care that is provided with all the equipments, respiratory machines and a team specialized for intensive care and nurses prepared for critical cases. We have not reached the level of getting a large number of people for the ICU and have only eight deaths reported which is so far a great achievement compared to other countries. The second project is to prepare and develop the medical team, as equipments alone will not do any good. We have trained 1,500 doctors and nurses for this purpose” said Lt. Col. Dr. Manaf Al Qahtani-Member of the National Taskforce for Combating Coronavirus (COVID-19).
