Cairo : Minister of Labour and Social Development, Jamil bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, delivered the Kingdom of Bahrain’s speech before the 47th Arab Labour Conference being held in Egypt from September 5 to 12.
The Labour and Social Development Minister highlighted the government’s efforts to weather the repercussions of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic healthily, economically and socially.
He pointed out the directives of HM the King and close follow-up of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister on allocating a big part of the financial package, earmarked to handle the pitfalls of the pandemic, to ensure stability of the labour market and secure social protection of the labour force.
The minister pointed out the government’s launching of a number of financial support programmes for the affected establishments in addition to granting large financial facilities to maintain contracting relations and curb the loss of jobs while ensuring continuity of the productive sectors to generate new jobs and maintain the growth rates and economic stability.
The Minister of Labour and Social Development cast light on the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic on the labour sector all over the world and called to draw lessons from the experience and intensify efforts to overcome the bad effects of the pandemic on the labour markets and the Arab labour forces.
He also reviewed the initiatives of the Kingdom of Bahrain in supporting the entrepreneurship field, commending the pivotal role of those projects in backing the economy and creating new job opportunities.
