Dubai : Bahrain’s national pavilion has been officially inaugurated today as part of Expo 2020 Dubai.
Themed “Intensity Weaves Opportunities”, the pavilion showcases Bahrain’s facets of long-standing civilisation, history and economy.
The opening ceremony was attended by Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) and Pavillion Commissioner-General President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa.
In attendance also were Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Dr. Nayef Al Hajraf, representatives of the GCC pavilions, diplomats and media figures.
In a statement on this occasion, BACA president underlined Bahrain’s message to the world, stressing the importance of culture in making miracles, promoting countries and spreading hope in a world recovering from a crisis that hit all aspects of life.
“The Kingdom of Bahrain is present with all its heritage and ancient history, embodied in our pavilion, which reflects the beauty of our architecture and our past and modern civilizational innovations”, she said.
She paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, hailing royal support to Bahrain’s participation in this mega global event. She also hailed the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to place the Kingdom of Bahrain on the map of the global economy.
BACA President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa extended deepest thanks to the Emirate of Dubai and all the organisers of the Expo 2020 Dubai.
He also extended thanks to parties supporting culture in the Kingdom of Bahrain, as well as public and private entities that contributed to the Kingdom’s participation in this mega event for the region and the world.
The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (Baca) is taking part in the global event in partnership with the Economic Development Board (EDB), Gulf Air, National Bank of Bahrain, the Industry, Commerce and Tourism Ministry, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Danat, Tamkeen, Mumtalakat, Export Bahrain, Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority and Batelco.
Bahrain’s pavilion is located in the ‘Opportunity’ district, while the other two districts are themed ‘Mobility’ and ‘Sustainability’.
Swiss engineer Christian Kerres was commissioned to design the pavilion in cooperation with the Wanders Werner Falasi Consulting Architects.
