    Boosting food security in Bahrain discussed

    In line with the directives of HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa to ensure food security in the Kingdom of Bahrain, especially in the holy month of Ramadan, the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani met with Board Chairman of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Sameer Abdullah Nass, in the presence of senior officials from both sides.

    Discussions focused on implementing the directives of HRH the Premier by working out mechanisms to guarantee the provision of foodstuff and identify challenges to food security.

    The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism expressed thanks for the continuous support of HRH the Premier and keenness to cater to people’s needs.

    He described HRH the Prime Minister’s directives as a roadmap for government officials, stressing the ministry’s keenness to carry out the directives and work in coordination with BCCI and the relevant parties to ensure the provision of the main foodstuff in the local market and their easy accessibility by consumers as well as mapping out future plans to deal with any exceptional circumstance that might be undergone by the kingdom.

    The BCCI Chairman commended HRH the Premier’s directives to the government to cooperate with BCCI in enhancing economic growth, supporting the commercial and industrial sector and promoting the development march.

    He stressed BCCI’s keenness on carrying out HRH the Prime Minister’s directives regarding the food security system to guarantee the flow of the main foodstuff into the local market. He underlined the importance of cooperation between the public and private sectors to boost investments in food sectors and promote food security in the upcoming period.
