Bahrain : Let’s walk Pink and Purple in association with LuLu Hypermarket. Around 70 women alongside a score of men, took part in a Pink ‘n Purple Walk yesterday, to mark October the month of awareness on Breast Cancer n Domestic Violence.
The one kilometre walk was organised by Team Women Across (WA), a women empowerment group at the Kanoo Garden, Gufool.
“This month – October – set aside to mark Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence awareness – we had hosted this one-km Pink’n Purple walk in solidarity with these causes,” said WA co-founder Sumithra Praveen. “We believe it is important to stand alongside women facing these situations, in solidarity – this is the least that we could do.”
The chief guests for the day, Ms. Monika Srivastava, Wife of Indian Ambassador to Bahrain and Dr. Hana Kanoo, Humanist and Economist, flagged off the walk.
Renowned journalist Meera Ravi launched the logo of the walk at the official function.
The event was supported by Lulu Hypermarket and titled “Let’s walk Pink’ n Purple with Women Across, supported by LuLu Hypermarket.”
“We thank LuLu Hypermarket for their support and the esteemed chief guests for being such an inspiration,” said WA PROJECTS coordinator Anupama Binu.
“It was a spirited walk for two real causes and TEAM WA is happy we could organise it alongside many prominent women and men in the community.”

Lubna Kanoo, Special Activist in Charity and Humanitarian Rabab Shamsan, Indian Ladies Association president Nisha Ranga, Art of Living Regional head Geethanjali Engineer, Migrant Workers Protection Society member Hana Buhijji, RJs Juhi, Noor and Kashish, Chartered Accountant Society Vice Chairwoman Sharmila Shet and others.
