Over 579 trials have been done via video-conferences in Abu Dhabi, authorities said on Sunday.
The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) said the e-system was put in place as part of efforts to ensure continuity while protecting employees and customers amid the Covid-19 situation.
Judges of the commercial court held 165 e-hearings at the first instance court; 333 at the appellant court; and 81 at the summary matters court, according to ADJD. The total number of notifications sent to the disputes’ parties was 1,158.
In terms of rulings, the Abu Dhabi Commercial Court issued a total of 1,549 judgments in March: 524 at the first instance court; 564 at the appellant; and 461 judgments at the summary matters court. There were 2,889 deliberated cases.
“The remote trial system is available to litigants 100 percent, with the possibility of all case parties and judiciary members – such as experts, translators and lawyers – attending the hearings, in accordance with applicable legislation and procedures,” officials said.
