Russia has reported 8,946 new cases of COVID-19 and 92 deaths in the past 24 hours, taking the country’s total confirmed cases to 353,427 and the death toll to 3,633.
“The growth of new coronavirus cases in Russia is stabilizing,” said Anna Popova, The Head of Russia’s Public Health Watchdog
Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, who was infected with coronavirus has returned to work this week after receiving treatment for the virus.
Russia has recorded far fewer deaths than other countries with large outbreaks, but critics have cast doubt on the low official mortality rate and accused authorities of under-reporting to play down the scale of the crisis.
