All hotels, restaurants and event venues in Dubai will remain closed until further notice, according to a new directive.

The Dubai Tourism, in its latest circular, said it has extended indefinitely all the precautionary measures rolled out earlier to stem the spread of coronavirus, which has so far infected more than 5,000 people in the UAE.

“To ensure the health and safety of its residents and visitors, we extend all the precautionary circulars on the website until further notice,” the agency said in a letter addressed to all inbound tour operators, hotel establishments, floating restaurants, venues and event organisers in Dubai.

All public venues in the UAE, including shopping malls, public parks, beaches, bars, cafes, and restaurants were ordered closed last month as part of ongoing efforts to curb the spread of coronavirus.

The number of infections in the country has escalated after authorities beefed up mass testings and contact tracing.

As of Wednesday, the country found 5,365 people positive for coronavirus.

In its latest directive, Dubai Tourism said it continues to evaluate the pandemic in coordination with the health authorities.
