Bahrain : Labour and Social Development Minister, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, has asserted that the positive employment indicators for the first quarter of this year prove that the initiatives of the Economic Recovery Plan at the level of the labour market are on the right track.
In this regard, he commended the ongoing interest and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, as well as HRH’s keenness to continuously create promising opportunities for the citizens and make them the first option at the labour market.
The minister indicated that the achievement is the fruitful outcome of the ongoing cooperation among the relevant authorities, namely the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) and the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), the representative of the business owners, noting that the coordinated work among all these parties has contributed to accelerating the pace of employment after the exceptional circumstances resulting from the novel Coronavirus pandemic and the launch of the Economic Recovery Plan.
The minister submitted a memorandum to the Cabinet session, held here yesterday, regarding Economic Recovery Plan employment outcomes in the first quarter of 2022.
In a statement marking the occasion, the Labour and Social Development Minister explained that as many as 7,740 nationals had been employed in the private sector during the first quarter of this year, or 39% of the targeted number.
He added that the report showed an increase in employment by 32.1% and training by 36% compared to the same period during the year 2021.
He affirmed that the positive figures indicate the success of the employment initiatives launched within the Economic Recovery Plan.
