    Finance Minister: fiscal policies mitigated COVID-19 fallout

    Bahrain : Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa chaired the first session of the 6th Arab Fiscal Forum.

    The Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) is organizing the forum remotely, with the participation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

    The virtual session was attended by finance ministers, Arab Central Banks governors, AMF Director General and Chairman Dr. Abdulrahman Al Hamidy and IMF Director General Kristalina Georgieva.

    Addressing the session, the minister stressed the importance of consultation regarding economic developments and the fallout of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), which took a have toll on economic sectors.

    He pointed out that fiscal policies have contributed in mitigating the economic impact of the pandemic.

    Arab finance ministers also addressed the session, highlighting efforts to mitigate the repercussions of the pandemic in their countries.
