    Government subsidies to be disbursed to citizens on September 15

    Labour and Social Development Minister, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, has announced that a total of BD 17 million will be disbursed to the citizens benefiting from government subsidies on September 15, in accordance with the criteria and regulations in force.

    The move is in line with the Cabinet’s resolution stipulating that subsidies shall be disbursed to eligible citizens across the five programmes in one payment, on the 15th of every month, under the supervision of the Ministry of Labour and Social Development and the Ministry of Housing.

    Meanwhile, the allowance to improve the standard of living for retirees will be disbursed at its current date, based on the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.

    The amounts to be disbursed will be credited into the accounts of eligible citizens will cover the social, cost of living and disability allowances, in addition to the housing allowance which is paid by the Housing Ministry, the minister said.

    The meat subsidy, which is paid every three months, will be disbursed on October 15 for the months of October, November and December. The previous payment was made on July 15 for the months of July, August and September, the minister added.

    Humaidan asserted that the disbursement of the five support programmes in one payment since February, 2020, has increased the citizens’ benefits, as the sums of all programmes enable them to meet the needs of their families.

    The minister said that BD 9,485,000 will be disbursed to 124,798 Bahraini families benefiting from the cost of living allowance, BD 1,597,000 will be paid to 16,784 Bahraini families benefiting from social allowance, BD 1,228,000 will be paid to 12,267 people with disabilities entitled to the disability allowance, and BD 4,549,000 will be disbursed to 45,393 beneficiaries of housing allowance.

    He added that the delivery of direct subsidies to eligible citizens will continue for all those registered in the lists of various programmes, noting that beneficiaries can be informed about the details of the sums to be disbursed through visiting the e-Government Portal (bahrain.bh) or calling National Call Centre on 80008001.
