Manama: President of the Bahrain Journalists’ Association (BJA), Ahedya Ahmed Al-Sayed, has praised the meeting of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, with the editors-in-chief of local press outlets. During the audience, HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister outlined Bahrain’s achievements over the past two decades, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and shed light on the government’s strategy during the coming period. BJA President stressed that HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s interest in the issues raised by Bahraini press is a source of pride for the press community, noting that it motivates journalists to carry on their partnership with the kingdom’s leadership in order to achieve the goals of development and ensure more welfare for the nation and the citizens. Ahdeya Al-Sayed said that HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s call for journalists to continue writing and expressing their opinions with responsible freedom for the sake of Bahrain and its people confirms HRH’s deep belief in the important role played by the press and journalists in assuming their national responsibilities of leading society towards more progress, cementing the citizens’ belonging to the nation and defending the national gains in all fields.
Regarding the new press law, BJA President lauded HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s vision on the importance of developing such a law to protect the freedom of expression guaranteed by the Constitution, and ensuring legal protection for everyone in order to be able to carry out their duties. She also praised HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s call for the need to invest in the citizens through education and health services in order to create a future generation that can overcome all challenges. BJA President indicated that during the meeting, HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister focused on Bahrain’s success in mitigating the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, regional and global political, economic and security issues, in addition to the kingdom’s relations with brotherly Arab countries, and the US relations with Iran.
