Manama: His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today attended the 2023 Crown Prince’s Cup, held under the patronage of His Royal Highness, at the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club (REHC) racetrack.
Upon arrival, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister was received by the Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Chairman of the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club High Committee, His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and a number of other senior officials.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister highlighted His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s unwavering support of the Kingdom’s equestrian sector, which has contributed to the development of Bahraini jockeys, who continue to achieve success locally, regionally, and internationally.
His Royal Highness highlighted the development and progress witnessed by Bahrain’s equestrian sector, which has played a role in the Kingdom’s longstanding success in hosting regional and international horse-racing competitions.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister commended the role of the REHC’s High Committee, chaired by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in developing and preserving the Kingdom’s equine heritage.
His Royal Highness noted the competitiveness of the Crown Prince’s Cup and that it’s organisation reflects the Kingdom’s capability to host international sporting events.
His Royal Highness wished the owners, coaches, and jockeys from the competing stables success in their future endeavours.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister presented the trophies of the 2023 Crown Prince’s Cup for imported horses to the grandchildren of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, HH Shaikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and HH Shaikh Hamdan bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister further presented the 2023 Crown Prince’s Cup for Class 1 – Domestic Grade 1 to Abdullah Fawzi Nass, whilst the Vice-President of the Supreme Council for Environment and Deputy Chairman of the REHC Higher Committee, His Highness Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, presented the 2023 Crown Prince’s Cup for Waho Graded Class 1 to Fawzi Nass.
The Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, presented the Bahrain Derby Cup to His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, following “Van Halen” of Al Adiyat Racing winning first place in the seventh round.
HH Shaikh Hamad bin Abdullah bin Isa Al Khalifa presented the Bahrain Oaks Cup to HH Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa, whilst REHC Executive Director for Organisational Affairs, Shaikh Salman bin Rashid Al Khalifa, presented the Bahrain Turf Club Cup to trainer, Ali Jan.
Ali Habib Qasim, a member of the REHC High Committee, presented the Anchorman Cup to the grandchildren of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, HH Shaikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and HH Shaikh Hamdan bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and the representative of the sponsoring company presented the Hawar Cup to the winner, Hasan Mefareh Alajmi.
