    HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Chairs Weekly Cabinet Meeting

    Bahrain :  His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today chaired the weekly Cabinet Meeting, at Gudaibiya Palace.

    The Cabinet congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, following Muharraq Club’s winning of the Asian Cup for the second time. The Cabinet commended the efforts and capabilities of the Muharraq Club which reflect the development of Bahraini sports and its distinguished position at a regional and international level.

    The Cabinet stressed the importance of the speech made by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow, United Kingdom. The speech reflected the Kingdom of Bahrain’s support for international efforts to overcome climate change, and develop innovative solutions to achieve climate security, reiterating the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. The Kingdom of Bahrain also announced its planned targets to reduce emissions by 2035, as well as the Kingdom’s support for key international climate change initiatives. In this regard, the Cabinet assigned the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Fiscal Balance to follow up on this.

    The Cabinet affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s support of the United Arab Emirates request to host the 28th UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Abu Dhabi in 2023, noting the UAE’s capabilities in organising international events and unifying efforts to address international challenges.

    The Cabinet condemned the assassination attempt on the Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq, HE Mustafa Al Kadhimi, denouncing this act of terror aimed at destabilising Iraq’s security and stability and inciting sedition in Iraq.

    The Cabinet discussed a number of memorandums during the meeting with the following outcomes:

    The approval of the following memorandums:

    1.           A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft decision on the rules and provisions for distributing plots of land for planning or re-planning following expropriation, and compensation for the owners of real estate located within the boundaries of these projects.

    2.           A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft MoU between the Supreme Council for Environment in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Ministry of Environment in the Republic of Korea on environmental cooperation, which aims to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the fields of environmental technology, protection of biodiversity, natural resources and water quality management.

    3.           A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the participation of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities in the World Crafts Council. The participation will contribute to supporting plans and strategies related to this field and will also support the registration of a number of Bahraini villages and cities in the World Crafts Council.

    4.           A memorandum by the Minister of Foreign Affairs regarding a number of MoUs with the United Arab Emirates, which aim further strengthen bilateral cooperation.

    5.           A memorandum by the Minister of Foreign Affairs regarding a number MoUs between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Federative Republic of Brazil, which aim to enhance bilateral cooperation across various fields.

    6.           A memorandum by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism regarding the accreditation of the Federative Republic of Brazil as a partner of the International Sea-Air Cargo Services Centre in the Kingdom of Bahrain. In addition to 12 other countries, companies based in these countries are allowed to apply for accreditation as an operator of these services.

    7.           A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the government’s response to a proposal for a law submitted by the Shura Council.

    The Cabinet reviewed the following topics:

    1.           A memorandum by the Minister of Housing regarding progress on the implementation of the new urban plan, which documents the achievements of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s national and international agendas in its quest to implement the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, at the level of per capita income, human development, government investment initiatives and increasing women’s participation in the workforce.

    2.           The Cabinet then took note of the Ministerial reports regarding participation in the World Travel Market, London, and meetings with officials of the education sector in the United Kingdom.
