Todo-depensa si Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary Benjamin Diokno sa mga petisyong inaprubahan ng gobyerno para sa dagdag na toll o singil sa North Luzon Expressway (NLEX).
Pagdidiin ni Diokno nitong Linggo, pinag-aralang mabuti ng pamahalaan ang mga petisyon bago ito inaprubahan.
Reaksyon ito ni Diokno sa anunsyo ng NLEX Corporation kamakailan na sisimulan na nilang ipatupad ang toll increase sa Hunyo 15.
“The NLEX rate increase is for staggered implementation — not a one-time implementation. It is staggered over several years.
The (petitions to) increase (toll fees) piled up because of the inaction of previous administrations. The Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. administration had to act on petitions from 2010. The petitions were carefully studied and analyzed. They were approved objectively and fairly,” pahayag ni Diokno.
Sa toll rate adjustment na aprubado ng Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), sisingilin ng P7 ang mga motoristang dadaan sa open system habang P33 naman sa closed system.
“Under the new toll fee matrix, motorists traveling anywhere within the open system will pay an additional P7 for Class 1 vehicles (regular cars and sports utility vehicles), P17 for Class 2 vehicles (buses and small trucks), and P19 for Class 3 vehicles (large trucks),” ayon sa NLEX Corporation.
Ang open system ay mula Navotas, Valenzuela at Caloocan patungong Marilao sa Bulacan, habang ang closed system ay sumasaklaw sa bahagi ng Bocaue, Bulacan at Sta. Ines, Mabalacat City, Pampanga, kabilang na ang Subic Freeport Expressway (dating Subic-Tipo).
Ang mga bumibiyahe sa closed system (sa pagitan ng Metro Manila at Mabalacat City) ay magbabayad ng dagdag na
P33 para sa Class 1 vehicle, P81 para sa Class 2 at P98 para sa Class 3.
Pagdidiin pa ni Diokno, kailangang tuparin ng gobyerno ang contractual obligations nito.
