The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) has taken steps to distribute textbooks for students at home starting tomorrow (Thursday) amid coronavirus (COVID-19).
“The ISB will start the mammoth task of delivering textbooks from Thursday to the thousands of students from LKG to XII who are attending online classes from their homes,” said ISB Chairman Prince S Natarajan.
Those who ordered full-set textbooks in different classes will get books initially. At the same time preparations to deliver books for those who ordered half-set also will be done. The project is being implemented in Bahrain in cooperation with the distribution wing of Madhyamam Newspaper. In addition to the Madhyamam, some other distribution agencies also will provide assistance.
The Indian School’s Isa Town and Riffa campuses, which accommodate over 12,500 students, had placed orders for the required books on time but some books are still waiting in Mumbai and Dubai due to COVID-19 lockdown. These books were supposed to reach Bahrain on March 31, but delayed by COVID -19 lockdown restrictions.
The distribution of books will be made a priority for students in CBSE X and XII in the new academic year. The school aims to complete book distribution to all classes in two weeks. “Online classes are already actively going on using the Microsoft Teams app.”, said ISB Secretary Saji Antony.
The last date for book payment through BFC/NEC exchanges was extended till April 30 following the request from parents. In addition to the textbook, stationery will also be provided. Books for distribution are sorted at the Indian School’s Isa Town and Riffa campuses from where the agencies will start distribution. The address and contact numbers of the students have already been collected through Google form. Textbooks in some classes have changed from this academic year. A soft copy of the books is available on the NCERT website and in the Indian School parents portal.
While conducting online classes, the students are provided with relevant sections of textbooks. The Indian School Principal VR Palaniswamy and Riffa Campus Principal Pamela Xavier said that the Indian School is conducting online classes very effectively in accordance with the directions of the Ministry of Education.
