The expatriate parent community led by the Indian School Bahrain (ISB) is all set to support the best efforts of the Bahrain government and the health department to combat Coronavirus (COVID-19) spread. As part of this effort, a 251-member Working Committee headed by the Indian School has been formed to spread awareness about COVID 19 among the expatriates and to provide relief to the deserving parents of the Indian community. With the spread of coronavirus, many Indian expatriates have been seeking help from the Indian School.

“The Indian school which represents the diaspora, has an obligation to help the deserving parents in such a situation,” said ISB Hon. Chairman Prince S Natarajan.

There are about 8,000 parents who are part of the Indian School which has 12500 students. The working committee headed by the school has the representation of parents, well-wishers, teachers and non-teaching staff. The committee will be spearheaded by ISB Chairman Prince S Natarajan, Hon.Secretary Saji Antony, School Executive Committee members, community leaders.

The committee is supported by the ISB staff headed by Principals VR Palaniswamy and Pamela Xavier and includes Vice-Principals Anand Nair, G Satheesh, S Vinod, Staff Secretary CM Junith and Media Coordinator Sreesadan OP.

There will be sub-committees to serve on various issues. The committee will intervene and resolve various problems of deserving Indian school parents and well-wishers from various states. Assistance will be provided for the educational and health matters of the children of the financially distressed parents. Subcommittees will work to accelerate travel and related assistance from the government and the embassy.

The working committee has requested the school governing body to temporarily relinquish the spacious school buildings as Quarantine Center with the permission of the concerned ministries if the spread of COVID 19 is affecting the society at large. It was also decided to provide necessary assistance in such a situation. School Chairman Prince S Natarajan requested the assistance of all to support the Indian School’s COVID 19 relief efforts.
