Jasvir Singh Jassi, the man who was arrested by the Punjab Police for committing sacrilege at a gurdwara in Morinda, died on Monday. According to the police sources, Jassi was complaining of chest pain and breathlessness before he was shifted to a government hospital.
Jasvir Singh was arrested on April 24 after a video went viral, showing him entering the sanctum sanctorum of Gurdwara Kotwali Sahib in Rupnagar district’s Morinda, hitting the two granthis (priests) and desecrating the Guru Granth Sahib.
