Bahrain : His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, recently received HE Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Cycling Association, HE Dr Sawsan Taqawi, President of Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation, HE Mr. Abdulla Abdulsalam, President of Bahrain Triathlon Association.
The meeting, which was held in His Highness’s office at Al Wadi Palace, was attended by HH Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Deputy President of the General Sports Authority President of Bahrain Combat Sports Council, and HE Dr Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, CEO of the General Sports Authority.
The meeting came as part of HH Shaikh Khalid’s keenness to support local sports associations to implement its programmes and plans to improve the level of sports and sportspersons, in a manner that is consistent with the policies of the General Sports Authority, in order to redouble efforts to accomplish more achievements in the Kingdom’s sports sector.
His Highness welcomed the attendees and expressed appreciation to their sincere efforts to develop and improve local sports’ associations, in a way that serves the aspirations of its members to reach advanced levels, pushing it to achieve outstanding results for Bahraini sports.
During the meeting, HH Shaikh Khalid was briefed about the future plans and programmes that the local sports associations will implement during the coming period, in order to raise the level of sports and sportspersons. His Highness stressed the importance of continuing efforts to strengthen the base in these sports, emphasising on the continuation of support for the formation of sports teams of different age groups and pushing them towards achieving more successes.
For their part, the attending heads of local sports’ associations expressed gratitude and appreciation to HH Shaikh Khalid for the endless support provided and His Highness’s distinguished efforts, which has a positive impact on the development of the Bahraini youth and sports movements. The attendees also affirmed the continuity of efforts, in line with the policies of the General Sports Authority, spearheaded by His Highness, in order to develop the sports system administratively, financially and technically, serving the present and future of the local sports movement.
