Rabat : His Majesty the King’s Advisor for Media Affairs, Nabeel bin Yaqoob Al Hamer, affirmed that the Ukrainian war, which is raging up to this moment, is the beginning of the formation of a new world order, and regardless of who wins in it today, the world is facing a new political time and challenges.
Participating as a keynote speaker in a symposium organised by Aseela Forum, in Morocco, under the theme “The Arabian Gulf Symposium Between East and West”, Al Hamer said that the Ukrainian war had laid bare many attitudes of the Western world, particularly with regard to freedom, human rights, democracy, principles and concepts and free media, which had gone with the wind when the war touched the Western world.
Al Hamer said “Being a media man, he does not yet know how western organisations, like Reporters Without Borders and Amnesty International, will classify what the western media practised of confiscating opinions, racism and blocking media websites during the war, while over the past years they have condemned, denounced, and blamed us and our media.”
Al Hamer noted that the most important thing that was revealed by the ongoing war in Ukraine is that the Western world was not able to draw the Arabs to its side in the battlefield, and this was a very prominent sign in the course of the transformations that the Arab region witnessed between East and West.
He pointed out that the West had exerted great pressure on the Gulf states, especially in order to bring about major shifts in their stances regarding the war, and these pressures varied between military, economic, political, media and even homosexuality, and most importantly, opening the Arab scene to Iran to wreak terror and destruction there.
Al Hamer stated that it was not in the interest of the Gulf countries to become part of this war or the ongoing conflict between the major powers as those countries have a good history and sound and stable economic relations whether with Russia, China or other eastern countries. He added that throughout their history, the Gulf countries have always tried to avoid conflicts and the polarization policies from any party as they have maintained balanced relations with all, based on mutual respect and no-interference in the internal affairs.
Al Hamer said that if there was any good thing about the so called “Arab Spring”, which was orchestrated by the Western countries to destroy the Arab countries and cause their downfall, was that it had created new positive transformations in the Arab world, with regard to strengthening the Arab internal front and distancing it from external interventions. He added the so called “Arab Spring” also intensified contacts and coordination among the Gulf countries in order to create more harmonious positions in talking with the foreign countries, in addition to the general Arab awareness that was formed in the wake of that.
Al Hamer asserted that stability and security, which have been anchored by the Gulf countries for decades, have created a great and ideal development renaissance that reflected positively on the peoples whose cohesion and loyalty to their regimes increased, thwarting many attempts to strike those stable regimes. Meanwhile, he noted, the gap was growing more and more between the Iranian regime and the people who suffer from abject poverty while this regime is spending money on its loyal organisations and expansionist goals in the Gulf.
Al Hamer affirmed that the Arabian Gulf is leading nowadays a diplomatic movement, neither Eastern nor Western, but rather puts the interests of its people and the interests of the Arab nation at the fore. It has adopted policies that are no longer based on reaction but action to fortify its internal front against any attempts that are not consistent with its interests.
“The ideologies and parties that harmed our countries and peoples are gone and their false slogans were exposed in front of the public opinion,” HM the King’s Advisor for Media Affairs asserted, slamming parties, like the Muslim Brotherhood and Ba’ath, for claiming progress and democracy and lifting the banner of pan-Arabism and nationalism while colluding with Iran’s arm Hezbollah and keeping silent about its shameful crimes in the Arab countries.
Al Hamer noted that the recent visits of leaders from the East and West to the Gulf stand witness of the growing and influential role of the Gulf policies in the world. “The changes that the Gulf is witnessing stem from its own will, with the decline of many Western convictions that the policy of pressure is no longer feasible with these countries that have proven on many occasions that those practices are doomed to fail,” he said, stressing that the natural and fast-paced changes in the Arabian Gulf have surprised many and went beyond their expectations to become a hard number in international policies.
He pointed out that the Gulf, geographically, was known to be between the East and the West with its distinguished location, and today it reinforces this issue politically and economically according to an independent and balanced position that strongly rejects attempts to interfere in its internal affairs or to exercise any pressure on it. He also underlined keenness of the Gulf countries on boosting rapprochement, tolerance, inter-cultural dialogue and coexistence between the East and West. He pointed out the historical and unprecedented 4-day visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to the Kingdom of Bahrain on November 3, at an invitation by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to participate in Bahrain Forum for Dialogue: East and West for Human Coexistence.
