Bahrain : Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Welfare and Social Rehabilitation Najwa Abdullatif Janahi said that in implementation of the Law on Restorative Justice for Children and their Protection from Maltreatment, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development has received from the Judicial Committee for Childhood six rulings regarding the enforcement of this law.
The rulings include enrolling convicted children in training and rehabilitation and national educational programs and voluntary activities under the Child Protection Center of the ministry, in accordance with the provisions of the restorative law.
The programs, ranging between two and 15 months, take into account the children’s ability to complete the training and rehabilitation requirements according to their physical abilities and fitness, she added.
The programs do not exceed eight hours a day and five days a week and do not hinder the children’s education and the practice of their religious rituals.
