Nanawagan ang Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) sa mga rider at iba pang motorista na huwag nang gamitin ang EDSA Carousel Bus Lane.
Ito ay matapos masawi ang isang rider nang masalpok ng isang sports utility vehicle (SUV) habang ginagamit ng mga ito ang bus lane sa EDSA Shaw Boulevard tunnel (southbound) nitong Miyerkules, dakong 5:00 ng madaling araw.
Ayon kay MMDA acting chairman Don Artes, nahagip ng kanilang closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera ang aksidente.
Binanggit ni Artes, isang puting SUV ang bumangga sa motorsiklo ng rider na nasagasaan naman ng isang tanker sa kabilang lane.
“It is with profound sadness that this incident happened. We express our deepest condolences to the family of the rider. We pray for their comfort in this difficult time,” sabi ni Artes sa pulong balitaan sa MMDA Central Office sa Pasig City.
Ang EDSA bus lane ay exclusive lamang sa mga pampasaherong bus, ambulansya at government marked vehicle na tumutugon sa mga emergency, ayon sa MMDA.
“We keep on reminding motorists not to use the innermost lane of EDSA as it may result in an accident, but despite our repeated calls and pleas, many drivers of privately-owned vehicles and motorcycle riders disregard the policy,” aniya.
Nanawagan din si Artes sa driver ng SUV at tanker na lumantad na at makipagtulungan sa kanilang ahensya hinggil sa aksidente.
