HH: the Programme in Line with the Royal Vision to Extend Training Opportunities for Bahraini Youth

HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs and President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports announced the launch of “Furas” (Opportunities) program which will provide the Bahraini youth with vocational opportunities in an effort to improve the youth and sports sector. The new initiative is part of the “Estijaba” (Response) program and will be overseen by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs. Through the new initiative, young Bahrainis will have a valuable opportunity to receive vocational training in a major Bahrain-based establishment to improve their capabilities and skills. The announcement came during HH Shaikh Nasser’s reception to HH Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Member of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Head of the Coordination, Execution and Follow-up Committee, HE Mr Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Ministry of Labour and Social Development, HE Mr Aymen bin Tawfeeq Almoayed, Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs, Mr Sameer Abdullah Nass Chairman of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and Ms Teresa Carlson, Vice President of Amazon Web Services’ Worldwide Public Sector as well as other senior officials.

“The introduction of the new programme comes in line with the directives of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain for us to work hard to provide the Bahraini youth with vocational opportunities in various sectors in order to make them the first choice in the labor market by improving their skills and honing them,” HH Shaikh Nasser said. He added that the “Furas” is the first step and a unique model in the region that strives to harness technology to serve the youth, explaining that the new program is in line Bahrain’s 2030 economic vision which gives the Bahraini youth an extended space to prepare them to enter the labor market. “Amazon Web Services will be among the first companies joining this program and this will further strength of +Furas+ due to the fact that it’s one of the biggest firms in the world. The company has recently launched its offices in the Kingdom of Bahrain and Bahrainis will get the opportunity to be trained there,” he explained.

    Am MoU with Amazon

Moreover, HH Shaikh Nasser congratulated the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Amazon Web Services, through which Bahrainis will be allowed to receive training in IT and computing cloud in the company’s offices in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He also welcomed signing a similar MoU with BCCI. From his side, Minister Humaidan praised the launch of “Furas” which invites companies and new projects to give training opportunities to the Bahraini youth, branding it as a quantum leap in the vocational training field for national cadres.

He also urged companies to join the program. On his part, the Youth and Sports Affairs Minister stated that this initiative is a real reflection to HH Shaikh Nasser’s keenness to extend to Bahrainis real opportunities to improve. Meanwhile, Mr. Nass pointed out that new initiatives would contribute to boosting the national economy. It’s worth noting that Bahrainis may register in the initiative by visiting estijabah.mys.gov.bh and then signing up on the website before searching for the available opportunities.
