Manama : Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, underlined the importance given by the Kingdom of Bahrain to the environmental sector. He pointed out diverse development programmes and initiatives carried out in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He noted the ongoing progress of Bahrain’s afforestation scheme to attain the desired goals.
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa was speaking as he received today Minister of Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs, Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, in the presence of Municipalities Affairs Undersecretary Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and Livestock Undersecretary Dr. Khalid Ahmed, the ministry’s Acting Undersecretary of Agriculture and Marine Wealth.
His Highness revealed that the afforestation plan is progressing according to the goals and visions set by the government under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He stressed that the scheme will continue developing the agricultural sector to confront the local challenges posed by climate change.
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa listened to a detailed account on the achievements during the past period regarding expansion in afforestation across the kingdom.
The Minister of Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs highlighted the ministry’s afforestation scheme which aims to double the number of trees from 1.8 million to around 3.6 million by 2035, in line with Bahrain’s commitment to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26).
