Oman has registered two deaths and 2,164 new cases of coronavirus, of which the majority of the cases are from citizens by 1,572 and the rest 592 from foreigners, taking the total cases to 58,179.
It’s the first time the sultanate is reporting over 2,000 daily cases of COVID-19.
The death toll reached 259 after reporting the new deaths.
Meanwhile, 1,159 new recoveries were announced, bringing the total to 37,257.
6,173 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours, across the sultanate.
So far 244,787 COVID-19 tests have been conducted.
In March, Oman began to introduce lockdowns in certain regions such as Muscat, Dhofar and Duqm and some tourist towns, but since April it has gradually allowed commercial centres to reopen and lifted the lockdown in the Muscat region, which includes the capital.
Air and land borders remain closed, except for repatriation flights.
