    Mayon Volcano has become even more active due to recorded activities in the past 24 hours.

    In a report by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), Mayon recorded 17 dome-collapse pyroclastic density current events in the past overnight.

    The volcano also recorded 65 volcanic earthquakes and 254 rockfall events.

    Lava spewing from the crater of the volcano was also observed where except for Miisi Gully and Bonga Gully in the south quadrant, it also flowed to Basud Gully in the north and northwest part of Mayon which immediately reached a distance of more than 3 to 4 kilometers down. brought ash clouds to a height of one kilometer.

    Ashfall has also been recorded in part of Tabaco City and sulfur emissions have increased to 1,002 tons per day.

    The city and municipal disaster risk reduction management offices of the towns and cities around Mayon, especially in Tabaco City and the town of Sto, kept vigil almost overnight yesterday. Sunday due to the growing lava flow.

    The disaster managers of the LGUs have instructed their residents to enter the 7 to 8 extended danger zone for possible evacuation in case the mountain activity continues to worsen.

    The barangay officials were also instructed to identify the pick-up points where the displaced residents can save.

    Sto. Domingo Mayor Joseling Aguas Jr. in turn, their residents who are within the 7 to 8 extended area, especially in the barangays of Lidong, San Fernando and Fidel Surtida who were first sent home from the decampment made last week for possible re-evacuation, are being prepared again.
