Manama : Public Health Director Dr. Najat Abul Fateh urged the public to take the developed Pfizer-BioNTech as a booster dose, in order to prevent Covid-19 and new mutants, including Omicron, and their serious complications.

In a statement today, Dr. Abul Fateh noted the availability of the developed Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for all citizens and residents in health centers.

She urged targeted people to take the booster dose to protect themselves and those around them, especially those aged 12 years and above.

The National Medical Taskforce for Combating COVID-19 had announced that as of Sunday, December 4, 2022, all COVID-19 related testing and vaccination will be administered at primary healthcare centres, which were announced via health.alert, without prior registration.

The National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) has approved the emergency use of the developed Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine against Covid-19 and new variants, which will be available as a booster dose for the age group of 12 years and above.

Dr. Abu Al-Fath pointed out that the emergence of a new mutant remains possible, stressing the need to focus on existing cases in hospitals and intensive care wards, which represent low rates, as a result of the success of the measures under the national vaccination campaign.
