Bahrain : Shahul Hameed Khadar have got his long awaiting jail release after almost 2 decades. Mr. Shahul Hameed, an Indian Citizen was arrested at Bahrain Airport (when he was on his transit to KSA) on the charges of carrying illicit drugs. During the trials, he tried his best to prove his innocence, but failed. Prosecution have given judgement of life imprisonment for him & since June 2003 he was undergoing his sentence.
It was a long struggle for Shahul Hameed, since 2003 June. Knowing him & his case, a good amount of efforts have been put by almost all spans of people forums. A lot of senior bureaucrats (of India as well of Bahrain), Social group leaders, Senior Politicians from India etc…, have strived their best to get the release of Shahul Hameed. But the results of all those went into vain…because law of the country must be abided.
Finally the almighty’s blessings has showered on him through the efforts of a kind hearted person Mr. Mohammed Iqbal, Indian Club Help Desk personals effort for the last 15 months, involvement of Indian Embassy & the Magnanimity of the Bahrain Government have given this long awaiting freedom to Mr. Shahul Hameed.
After long 19 years, Shahul Hameed have left the island to join with his family. His family Mrs. Sakeena Shahul Hameed, their 2 sons & a daughter and his aged mother was awaiting for this blissful moment for the last 19 years. During these years he had lost his father & a lot of changes have happened in his family.
Shahul Hameed through his words; which is a very valid lesson for all those who are travelling abroad. Words of Shahul Hameed is like… When he was returning back to Saudi after his vacation on 9th June 2003 from Chennai; one of his very close friends have given a packet to hand it over to his relative in Saudi. Upon the trust on his friends, he have carried a baggage for them from Chennai to Saudi without knowing – what was in that. And unfortunately to him; he was cheated & trapped after tipping about the baggage to concerned Authorities of the Bahrain Airport. At that time only he came to know that the baggage given to him by one of his friends was having illicit drugs. Even though he never have any past records of any crimes in India as well in the places he worked for (both Bahrain & KSA), he became a culprit since he was caught red-handed. Due to the betrayal of one of his close friends, he lost the cream span of his life. His family was also struggling & was in apprehension since that time. Because during the time of this unfortunate incident all his kids were at their prime phase of their education and his family was totally clueless on what to do, since he was the only earning member of his family
So the message he want to pass to all from his life experience is…”Never carry any unknown baggage / packets from anybody when travelling abroad. It is good to deny that of kind requests, even if it spoils that relationship; you can save your life as well your family’s life from these kind of bad lucks & life long struggle”.
With tears of joy, Shahul Hameed have thanked the almighty & all the kind hearted persons worked behind his jail release.
