    Telecommunications and IT sector spurs economic growth, Finance Minister

    Manama : Finance and National Economy Minister, Mumtalakat Chairman Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa stressed the role of telecommunications and IT sector in supporting the national economy and spurring growth.

    He highlighted the support accorded to this pivotal sector to achievement the development goals, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

    He stressed the need to continue upgrading  the digital infrastructure supporting the telecommunications and IT sector  to consolidate its  competitiveness, which reflects positively on the national economy.

    He stressed the innovative digital technologies and solutions provided by this sector that support various economic sectors.

    He made the statement during a ceremony to announce the launch of Beyon, the largest telecommunications and IT company in, which will be the parent company for both Batelco, Beyon digital companies and Batelco International Investments.

    The launch ceremony was also attended by Supreme Council for Health (SCH) President Lt.Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, and senior officials and businessmen.

    During the ceremony, the company was officially launched its new logo unveiled and displayed on the screen in the main hall.

    Beyon logo has also been displayed in several locations in Bahrain, including the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay, the Bahrain International Circuit, and the company’s headquarters building in Hamala.

    Batelco and Beyon Chairman Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa delivered a speech hailing HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s keenness on developing the telecommunications and IT sector.

    He expressed delight at launching Beyon as part of a strategy that yielded   four new digital companies within last year – Beyon Money, Beyon Solutions, Beyon Cyber, and Beyon Connect.
