Manama: The Deputy King, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, today remotely met the Auditor-General of the National Audit Office (NAO), HE Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, who presented a forensic audit report on the procedures for protecting fixed assets across centres affiliated with the Ministry of Labour and Social Development. The forensic audit report issued a number of financial and administrative observations of non-compliance regarding the procedures for protecting fixed assets and the proper use of facilities so as not to harm the efficiency and quality of public service provision.

The Deputy King  directed the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs to investigate each of the observations of non-compliance within the NAO forensic audit report. The Deputy King highlighted the importance of strengthening oversight, accountability and responsibility in consolidating the principles of integrity, honesty and professionalism across all government agencies and workstreams. The Deputy King added that NAO forensic audit reporting and observations continue to safeguard and protect the use of public funds. For his part, the Auditor-General HE Shaikh Ahmed expressed gratitude for the opportunity to meet HRH the Deputy King and for HRH’s support for the work of the NAO. HE Shaikh Ahmed further emphasised the NAO’s continued commitment to achieving HRH the Deputy King’s aspirations of operational best practice throughout the public sector. A number of senior government officials also attended the meeting remotely.
