Bahrain : The Elections Executive Committee joined hands with the University of Bahrain (UoB) today launched a platform to urge students to verify the voter lists and ensure that their names are included.
UoB President Dr. Jawaher Shaheen Al Mudhaihki said the university harnessed all its capabilities for the success of the electoral process.
In a statement to Bahrain News Agency (BNA), she stressed the importance of the elections which represent a milestone in the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
“The university was one of the main venues for voting on the National Action Charter, which ushered in modern political life in Bahrain. It was also a polling center for previous parliamentary and municipal elections”, she said.
“The university accommodates around 36,000 students, most of whom are eligible to participate in the polls”, she noted, stressing the importance of enhancing their awareness about choosing their parliamentary and municipal representatives.
Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission member, Head of the Elections Media Committee, Ahmed Al Mudaeb stressed LLOC’s keenness on urging students to verify their data, noting the possibility to do so via website www.vote.bh and the supervisory centres.
The aim of the platform is to urge youth to verify to participate in voting for the elections next November and to exercise their constitutional right to choose their representatives
It is to be noted that the Executive Committee of the elections announced that the lists of voters would be displayed in the four supervisory committees for one week, from September 15 to 21.
