Bahrain : World Health Organisation (WHO) Representative and Head of Office in Bahrain, Dr. Tasnim Atatrah, has lauded the Education Ministry’s distinguished achievements in providing high-quality education services and ensuring education for all since the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.

She highlighted Bahrain’s outstanding education achievements during the pandemic, particularly regarding the Education Ministry’s delivery of lessons in cooperation with the Health Ministry, noting that close cooperation between the two ministries has created an integrated healthy school environment.

Dr. Tasnim Atatrah was speaking during her meeting with the Minister of Education, Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi, who informed her about the health services provided by the Education Ministry to all students and the precautionary measures implemented to ensure their safety.

He also highlighted the online educational services provided by the Ministry since the outbreak of the pandemic, including centralised lessons, the educational portal lessons, televised lessons and others via 14 YouTube channels, including one for students with special needs.

Dr. Al-Nuaimi also highlighted the precautionary measures to be implemented during the new school year, according to the developments of the health situation, and in coordination with the National Medical Taskforce for Combating Coronavirus, after the approval of the Government Executive Committee.

The Minister indicated that Bahrain’s distance education experience has been widely praised by many relevant regional and international organisations, such as the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), in addition to the distinguished results in the study prepared by the UNESCO Institute for Statistics on the extent to which education around the world has been affected by the pandemic, which proved the limited impact of the pandemic on the educational system in Bahrain.

Health Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health, Dr. Mariam Al-Hajeri, and Education Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Services, Kifaya Al-Anzoor, in addition to a number of officials from the two ministries, attended the meeting.
