    Winners of the King Hamad Youth Empowerment Award honoured

    Bahrain : Deputised by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, honoured the winners of the King Hamad Youth Empowerment Award to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The award ceremony was attended by a number of ministers and officials.

    In his opening speech, HH Shaikh Nasser said: “I am honoured that I have been delegated by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to give away this award which expresses the belief of HM the King in the capabilities of the youth, who have become the hope and future of the globe.
    This has contributed to the emergence of a Bahraini and international youth force capable of charting global priorities and presenting creative ideas and initiative towards the implementation of the SDGs agreed upon by world leaders.”

    HH Shaikh Nasser stated: “The care and support provided by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in supporting the youth have contributed to achieving many goals in sustainable development.”

    His Highness continued, “The King Hamad Youth Empowerment Award to achieve SDGs has reached the youth and their supporters across the globe, as revealed by the statistics of the award’s organising committee, which recorded 6,176 participants who presented projects representing 122 countries.”

    His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa added: “We extend our sincere congratulations to the winners in the various categories of the Award, and we highly appreciate the great efforts they have made in enriching the process of sustainable development goals. I extend my gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Youth Affairs, the United Nations Economic and Social Council and the United Nations Development Programme in the Kingdom of Bahrain and to the members of the Higher and Initial Judging Panel for their close cooperation, which contributed to the success of this initiative.”

    During the ceremony, Judging Panel Member Mr. Noeman Al Sayyad delivered a speech on behalf of the Panel, saying: “I extend my gratitude and appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, for his kind patronage of this award, which reflects the clear efforts of His Majesty the King to support the youth not only at the level of the Kingdom of Bahrain but also at the global level. The interest of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and his continued follow-up to the award had a positive impact in achieving this wide fame so that it reaches 122 countries around the world and enjoys wide participation due to the international commitment that the award holds by the Kingdom of Bahrain towards urging international countries, the youth and organisations to exert all efforts in order to achieve the United Nations goals.”

    He added: “The Judging Panel witnessed the participation of a selection of judges who are referred to for their professionalism in their work, integrity and transparency at the international level. All judges have scientific, practical and academic experience with a diversity of nationalities and backgrounds, which contributed to the emergence of the award in an ideal manner in terms of judging and ensured that the results were drawn professionally. I extend my sincere gratitude and appreciation to the work team in the Ministry of Youth for their fruitful cooperation with the Panel, as well as the Judging Panels for their cooperation and work in the spirit of one team, which led to the smooth completion of their work. I also congratulate the winners of the first places, wishing everyone continued success.”

    Thereafter, HH Shaikh Nasser honoured the winners in the award. The results are as follows:

    The People Award: Ally Zlatar of Canada for his The Starving Artist Initiative
    The Partnership Award: Kristian Jakobsson of Finland for his Sustainable Venture Creation Initiative
    The Peace Award: Sarah Murray of the USA for her Free to Run initiative
    The Institutional Enabling Award: Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) for the company’s The Bapco of Tomorrow initiative
    In the Youth Supporters Category
    The Digital and technical Enabling Award: Roma Mukherjee of the USA for her Asante Africa Foundation Initiative
